Cards

Cards: Cards are access control credentials that are typically some form of card but may also be some other type of credential such as a mobile credential, pin code, prox fob, or biometric identifier.

The Cards page will display all access control credentials available to the current partition you are logged into. Like other pages in the system, the Cards page can search or sort by any of the column headers.

There are two options for creating a new credential.  If you are creating just a single credential you can click “Create New”.  The “Create Batch” function will let you create multiple credentials of the same type provided the card numbers are sequential.

Clicking on any card number on the Cards list or event grid will bring the operator to the Edit Card page.

A card is granted access through the Access Levels assigned to it. Associating a keycard with an Access Level gives rights to open certain groups of doors on certain schedules. A card can be tied to many Access Levels thereby granting privileges to open many doors and readers with varying schedules.

However, as can be seen below, many options that are assigned to a card result in even further modification to the card’s access. This section details those modifiers.

Card Number: The actual card number. If the credential is magnetic stripe, use "=" for any field separators character. Omit the leading ";" and trailing "?".

Card Set: Select from “Magstripe/RAW Card” (the default), PIN Code Only, or any other credential type defined in your system. See the “Card Sets,” section, below.

Active On: Global start date for the card

Expires NEVER / ON / NOW: Sets an expiration date for the card. NEVER will not set a date to expire (works indefinitely), NOW will immediately deactivate the card, and ON will allow you to specify a date.

PIN Code: Optional. Four digits when the credential is CARD+PIN, 6 digits when the credential is PIN ONLY.

Pin Exempt: Allows the card to operate with no PIN (card only).

Communication User: This card will not open standalone locksets but will instead force the lock to immediately sync with the server. This does not affect the operation of VertX Readers or Aperio Locks.

Extended Access: Locks and readers will not relock until the time specified in the reader/lockset configuration page. Every lockset/reader has a standard relock time and a longer extended user relock time. This allows certain people more time to get through the opening.

Passback Exempt: Allows the credential to be exempt from any anti-passback rules.

Permanent User: This feature works in combination with the Remote Authentication feature available in the locksets. While each Wifi/PoE lock can store up to 10,000 users, it can be programmed to wake and request authorization for any credential that is presented and not stored locally. If the lock is loaded to capacity (10,000 users), then an unknown card will be downloaded into the lock and the least frequently used credential that is not “Permanent” will be removed from the controller. The controller will never remove a Permanent user.

Assigned to: Allows you to assign the card to a person. You may select a person from the list presented or if there are too many to display you can filter the list with any of the fields that are shown.

Access Level Memberships: Assign/Remove access levels to the card here. There may be a restriction on the types of access levels you may assign based on your operator rights and/or potential conflicts with a host interface. An access level might be added to a card so it respects the card’s expiration date or it might be added to the credential as a “Temporary” Access Level with an independent expiration date by modifying the Effective Dates for the access level.
