Controllers are added to the Campus Online™ system
via the Campus Online Admin Tools application, more commonly referred
to as the Rich Client. Once discovered, the devices will be configured
in the web client. Any alarms you wish to configure for the device and
its child objects will be done in the web client in the alarms
section.
Configure the VertX panel’s network properties per
the site's network requirements. Please refer to the VertX panel
installation guide for more detailed instructions on the installation
and configuration of the controller.
Connect the VertX panel to network and
then you should be able discover the VertX panel from the Campus
Online Admin Tools application. Once you open the Rich Client, you
will need to click on "Tree Items". From there, right click on the
computer icon and select "Discover new VertX Controllers".
This action will bring up the VertX
Discovery screen. Each panel that has made itself known to the server
will be listed here if it is not already discovered. Highlighting the
hardware shows you the IP address, firmware version, and other
information.
Highlight a single controller, or many,
and add to the list on the right. At this point, you can name the
controller and set its name and time zone.
Install All
This option will bring all selected panels into the system. This is a
one-click operation and everything is automatic. Once complete you
will be presented with a “Done” button. If you get any errors, it is
sometimes best to delete the newly discovered object and try again.
Install / Replace One
This allows the administrator to replace a faulty VertX panel in the
field with a new one. There is no need to match the old panel’s IP
address or do any work except bring the panel onto the LAN and
discover it. Select the Install / Replace One option to proceed.
Once you have selected a panel to install
or replace click OK. The system will discover the panel. If all
settings are correct and installation succeeds, you should see the
following screen. Click "Done" to finish the installation.
If you are left with some “To Do” items
and you are missing some child panels (Vxxx panels), try to right
click on the V1000 or V2000 and, “Discover Downstream Devices.” If
this fails, check RS-485 connections and terminations as described in
the VertX installation Guide. Contact your Certified Integrator or
PERSONA Technical Services for more help.
Once discovered, you must set up the
basic properties of the readers and devices you have connected to the
system. For ease of access, this is done from the Web Client on the
VertX Controller and
Reader pages. Also, note that the readers will have to the
proper
Door Groups for card access.
